The Construction Phase is expected to begin in early 2009, when the first
project is let to construction. Construction
is projected to be completed in the fall of 2011. The goal of this phase is to
build the K-61 upgraded highway between Hutchinson and McPherson.
Construction and Detour Alerts
You can find the latest information about road construction and detour alerts
throughout the state by accessing the 511 Travel Information link:
http://511.ksdot.org/. When road construction begins on K-61, you may
be able to pull up planned and active detour alerts for the K-61 project.

Once design is complete and construction contracts are in place, a schedule may
be posted here and you can review the construction
phase timeline.
