| K-61 Environmental Assessment Available for Public Viewing, Comments | Tuesday, March 23, 2004
| The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has completed the Environmental Assessment (EA) and Section 4(f) Evaluation for the proposed highway improvements to the K-61 corridor between Hutchinson and McPherson. The EA and Section 4(f) Evaluation documents the possible social, economic and environmental effects of the improvements.
Copies of the EA and Section 4(f) Evaluation are available for public viewing at the following locations during their regular business hours starting March 24, 2004:

KDOT will accept written comments regarding the EA and Section 4(f) Evaluation throughout the 30-day viewing period. Written comments may be directed to: Joe Blubaugh, Public Involvement Liaison, Kansas Department of Transportation, 7th Floor, Docking State Office Building, 915 SW Harrison, Topeka, KS 66612. The comments must be postmarked no later than April 26, 2004.
KDOT anticipates the EA to lead to a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) which will complete the environmental documentation for the project. The Federal Highway Administration will issue the FONSI approximately 30-days after the viewing period is completed if they determine that no further environmental documentation is needed to complete the project.
