Project: 61-106 K-8249-01 K-61 Enhancement in Reno and McPherson Counties Thank you for your
attendance at the Kansas Department of Transportation's (KDOT's) public information open houses
regarding the K-61 system enhancement project held in December. We are reviewing the comments and
information we received at those open houses to determine if any possible changes could be made to
either the preferred corridor or the design type that were presented. Because you have expressed
an interest in receiving project information, we have added your name to the project mailing list.
Many of you expressed a desire to modify the location of the preferred corridor. That is an option
we plan to review. Also, we are pleased that within the next few weeks, KDOT crews will begin
preparing the area for both ground and aerial surveys. The results of the surveys should be completed
at the end of the summer. These surveys are part of the process that will lead to the construction of
a new four-lane divided highway between Hutchinson and McPherson. Specific details, such as roadway
location and right-of-way needs, will be known later in the engineering and design process.
KDOT and all members of the project team are committed to an open decision-making process, and
value your comments. Your participation and comments make it possible for us to understand the effects
major highway projects such as this one have on you and your neighbors.
We invite you to contact us if you have questions, comments, or concerns at our toll-free project
